Whether it will be your first time coming to therapy or it's a process you've participated in before, it's helpful to know a little bit about what to expect when getting started with me. In the first few sessions, I'll be focusing on getting a holistic sense your story and who you are, while also allowing for you to get to know me as a therapist and my treatment style. We'll explore the initial reasons for what brought you into therapy and what you're hoping to get out of the process. As a Family-Systems trained therapist, I also find it very helpful to get a sense of your family-of-origin background and experiences.
The most important factor in therapy resulting in successful outcomes and feeling effective, is the therapeutic relationship feeling like a place that is supportive, safe, and trustworthy. Throughout my work with you, however long it might be, I make that the overarching priority.
